MARK HYMAN, MD
Mark Hyman, MD is dedicated to identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic illness through a groundbreaking whole-systems medicine approach called Functional Medicine. He is a family physician, a four-time New York Times bestselling author, and an international leader in his field. Through his private practice, education efforts, writing, research, and advocacy, he empowers others to stop managing symptoms and treat the underlying causes of illness, thereby tackling our chronic-disease epidemic. Dr. Hyman founded the Ultrawellness Center in Lenox, MA and regularly publishes health content to his website.
DAVID RILEY, MD
Dr. Riley's primary interest in medicine is improving patient care through the evidence-based integration of conventional and complementary therapies, known as integrative medicine. He is the founder of the Integrative Medicine Institute, that has conducted health services research on effectiveness, safety, patient satisfaction, and costs when complementary and alternative therapies are integrated with conventional medicine. He has led a variety of international health care policy, regulatory, research and consulting projects.
JOHN de KADT, LAc, CH, MS, Certified Living Nutritionist
John de Kadt is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist as well as an Ayurvedic Consultant and Living food Nutritionist. He has been practicing for 15 years and specializes in fatigue, stress, anxiety, menopause, digestive issues, PMS, inflammation, cancer, asthma, allergies, and muscular skeletal issues. He has been a senior practitioner at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires for 11 years. John is also a professional percussionist and spoken word artist who has played ethnic hand-percussion instruments from around the globe for more than 25 years. John has performed on NBC and PBS, and with Steve Gorn, Glen Velez, Subash Chandran, Robert Bly, Krishna Das, Baba Olatunde, and others. He tours nationally and his CDs This Rhythm Is Not Mine and Rhythms Of The Infinite, released by Sounds True in 2010, have received great reviews.
JOHN DOUILLARD, PhD
Dr. John Douillard has been teaching natural medicine and Ayurveda for 22 years and has written and produced 18 health and fitness books, CD's and DVD's. Dr. Douillard publishes a nationally known bi-monthly video-newsletter on current health issues and cutting edge nutritional research that can be accessed on his website. He just released his latest book, The Yoga Body Diet this April and is the author of The 3-Season Diet; Body, Mind, and Sport; Perfect Health for Kids and The Encyclopedia of Ayurvedic Massage. He is the creator of the LifeSpa Ayurvedic Skincare and Herbal Line and currently directs LifeSpa, the nation's premier Ayurvedic Holistic Health Center, where he offers consultaions (in person or over the phone) and personalized Panchakarma Detox Retreats. He lives with his wife and six children in Boulder, CO.
MICHELE H. MITTELMAN, RN, MPH
Michele Mittelman is an editor and advocate within integrative medicine and healing. She has worked as an Associate Editor for Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, a peer-reviewed scientific journal indexed in the National Library of Medicine with a mission to promote the art and science of integrative medicine and healthcare. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Bravewell Collaborative and works in her local community as an overseer and docent for the New England Wildflower Society. Michele is also an overseer for the Catalogue for Philanthropy and Tenacre Country Day School, and is an advocate for the nursing profession through nursing initiatives at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. With a background in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, Rutgers University, and a graduate degree in public in health from Columbia University, Michele worked as a registered nurse in intensive care and later as a health care consultant with Ernst & Young.
LINDA STONE
Widely recognized as a visionary thinker and thought leader, Linda Stone is a writer, speaker and consultant focused on trends and their strategic and consumer implications. Articles on her work on topics such as email apnea and continous partial attention have appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, The Economist, Boston Globe, Harvard Business Review, and hundreds of blogs. She has spoken at Supernova, the ETech conference, GEL, the Collaborative Technologies Technologies Conference, the Hidden Brain Task Force for the Center for Work-Life Policy, and to executives at companies such as Edelman and McDonald's. JESSE DYLAN
Jesse Dylan is an American film director, and the founder of FreeForm. He is the son of musician Bob Dylan and brother of musician Jakob Dylan. Jesse Dylan is a filmmaker and Creative Director & CEO of FreeForm, a full-service production company with a focus on corporate social responsibility and social media. Jesse also founded Lybba, a non-profit organization that uses research, design, technology, and media to drive change in healthcare. Lybba's goal is to build interest, enrich understanding, and provide compelling ways for people to engage with the health issues that matter most to them. In addition, he a prolific director behind some of the most successful campaigns in commercial television, print, and interactive advertising. He is the co-founder and co-owner of Form, a commercial production company, which has created award-winning commercials for clients including Nike, Nintendo, Motorola, American Express, NFL, and MTV.
JAMES SCHADT
James Schadt is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Reader’s Digest Association, Inc. Mr. Schadt was most recently the Executive Chairman and Acting CEO of Mercator Software, Inc. Prior to that, he was General Partner of Dailey Capital Management and Senior Operating Partner of Beacon Group, LLC. He is also the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Cadbury Beverages Inc. Mr. Schadt is currently a Trustee of Northwestern University and a former Trustee of the American Enterprise Institute, the DeWitt Wallace Reader’s Digest Fund and the Lila Wallace Reader’s Digest Fund. Mr. Schadt received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
HUGO LIU, PhD
Hugo Liu is a is Chief Scientist at Hunch.com, an internet recommendation service. Liu is also a taste researcher at MIT, where he has taught courses on artificial intelligence, and philosophy of aesthetics. Liu is the author of more than 30 publications on taste, sentiment analysis, semantics, and philosophy of aesthetics. He is editor of two academic volumes on Computational Approaches to Beauty and Happiness, and the Semantics of People and Culture. His research on computer models of food, emotions, and identity has been written up in New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, and Washington Post. In addition to Hunch and MIT, Liu advises cutting-edge startups on product strategy and user experience. He is particularly excited to be working with Jill's List, and believes that cultivating personal health and wellbeing is the secret to a fulfilling and flourishing lifestyle.
