Questions
What would you like to tell us about your practice?
Phoenix Healing Arts is devoted to those who have chronic pain, fibromyalgia, or suffer from physical, emotional or sexual trauma. The gentle, effective, non-invasive techniques I use help you relax and let go of your discomfort, starting at the beginning of your first session. Why go for a treatment and have more pain added to what you already have? I also specialize in Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, which works with the lymph that touches every cell in the body. It can be used for getting my clients ready for surgery and healing as rapidly as possible, release muscles, detoxify organs, and release joints, and help mitigate autoimmune disease.
Pain and trauma cause stress, which research shows is responsible for over 80% of doctor’s visits. It saps your energy, makes you more likely to get sick, and can cause depression.
My all-natural therapies help the body heal itself, and re-balances it physically and energetically. I use a combination of therapies, both light touch and touch-free. I also teach my clients about self-care.
Phoenix Healing Arts is located in a quiet, private home in Brighton close to Newton, Brookline, and the Massachusetts Turnpike. I have off-street parking and flexible hours. Directions will be given when you make your appointment.
What issues are best addressed by your practice?
Craniosacral Therapy: headaches & migraines, neck and back pain, Temporomandibular Joint (jaw pain), sinus pain, releasing stress,
Somatoemotional Release (part of craniosacral therapy) releases trauma held in the body- physical, emotional or sexual (which can cause pain and restrictions)
Lymphatic Drainage: detoxification of organs and body, preparation for surgery and accelerated post-surgical recovery, autoimmune disease (clears immune complexes from the body), stimulating the immune response for healing and health, improving joint range of motion (by draining excess lymph from joint itself), glaucoma (releases pressure in eye)
Reflexology: To work with a body part that is too painful to be touched, or has trauma issues, plantar fasciitis, stress reduction, foot pain
Reiki: enhances any other treatment
Issues for referring out:
Anything outside my scope of practice
Mobilization of joints
Significant trauma history without psychotherapy support
Abnormal lump in any part of the body
Pain that does not respond to any treatments I can do, or gets worse
Deep vein thrombosis
Infections
What expectations should a patient or client have when coming to see you?
Before the first session, I send my clients a health history form asking about health, illness, lifestyle, and stress in their lives to bring to the first appointment. We go over it at the beginning and fill in any additional information that may have been missed.
I then do an assessment of the body according to the methods of my training, and together with the person’s expressed needs, put them on the table and proceed with the session. I am very careful to avoid causing pain to my clients. The work is either light touch or touchless, and can be a combination of lymphatic drainage therapy, craniosacral therapy, reiki, reflexology, myofascial release, or somatoemotional release. It may also include dialog between myself and the client if they are releasing trauma. This is specific dialoging to ensure the client can release their trauma in a safe and supportive space. The sessions last an hour or an hour and a half, determined in advance, and can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions. I always do an assessment before every session, because no two sessions are the same.
What does good health mean to you?
Good health is when the body, mind and emotions are in balance. It is the presence of ease and optimal functioning instead of the absence of disease.
What makes a practitioner good at what they do?
A practitioner should be able to see and listen to the client as a whole person. They should be able to provide a number of treatment options to better fit their client’s needs. Above all, they must care deeply about the people that come to see them.
